Today is a GREEN DAY

No, I’m not talking about drugs. I’m talking about one of my biggest dreams coming true: watching the band Green Day live.
The concert was held Friday the 13th of January in Bologna and yes, I’m late as always to post this. I won’t waste time making up excuses because no one cares really. I’ll start with the story *fades out effect*

The morning went much like this: *fades in effect* I woke up and went to school as a good student should do. Before the last period, at 12 am, my friend and I signed ourselves a permit to leave school with the blessings of our philosophy teacher ( a Green Day fan too).
We got to my house and changed clothes quickly because we knew we had to layer clothes on our bodies to avoid hibernation. And we were right: it was damn cold!! We got there at about 2.30 pm.
We waited till 8.30 pm before they let us in. But before us, they let in the ones with the “early entry” ticket, or as I call them the “central pit for rich”. Nothing against them, good lord no, I really wish I had had enough money to buy one “early entry” ticket myself!
The fun part begun as soon as we got inside. We had to leave our jackets outside, with a lot of discomfort and disorganized people at the wardrobe (welcome to Italy guys!).
We were quite close to the stage and we enjoyed the concert really much. It lasted 2 hours and a half!
Green Day were great, as we all were expecting.
The problem was after the concert… we were all dying  dehydrated. So we bought two bottles of water for something like 4 euros, a theft basically.
We had to wait another 2 hours outside the building because the guys at the wardrobe didn’t have a clue on how they had organized the clothes and backpacks at the beginning of the concert.
We got home at about 4 am tired but extremely happy.

They played :
-Know Your Enemy
-Bang Bang
-Revolution Radio
-Holiday
-Letterbomb
-Boulevard of Broken Dreams
-Longview
-Youngblood
-Hitchin' a Ride
-When I Come Around
-Christie Road
-Burnout
-Scattered
-Minority
-Are We the Waiting
-St. Jimmy
-Knowledge
-(Operation Ivy cover)
-Basket Case
-She
-King for a Day
-Shout / (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction / Hey Jude
-Still Breathing
-Forever Now
-American Idiot
-Jesus of Suburbia
-Ordinary World

-Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

the beauty of horror

I firmly believe that beauty can be found in everything and everybody.
Sometimes you have to dig a little bit deeper but when you are able to see beauty, you are able to embrace every part of the world.
I'm not saying that we should forgive every despicable action ever committed in the history of mankind, I just hope that people will be able to see beauty also when everything seems lost. That means able to hold on to life and to never give up, even in the darkest hours.

This is why I'm so fond of horror and creepy pictures, I find them fascinating (within certain limits, of course) and at times inspiring. I find them beautiful in a way ….the sense of abandoned houses or burned roses… my brain perceives these images in such a clear and peaceful way.

Here are some pictures I took on Friday during my small hunt of beauty and decay (before school).

It’s nothing compared to other pictures I took in the past, but I guess this will help me appreciate my city a little bit more.

to Heath

I haven't finished Heath's Joker yet but I wanted to share it anyway.

Today, in 2008, we lost a great actor but first of all a great human being.
His performance as the Joker truly changed my perspective in life and made me realize that hiding our dark side is not the answer to live a "normal" life. It's better to deal with our demons on the way to become who we are rather than pushing them under our skin. They always find a way to get back yo us when we less expect them.

So thank you, Heath, wherever you are now.
